WHY WE DO
Indian Girls Are Facing An Educational Dilemma
In August 2009, the Indian parliament had passed the landmark Right to Education Act that made education free and compulsory for children between the ages 6 and 14. It has been a decade since the Indian Parliament passed the Act, and we have seen a significant increase in enrollment rate in primary and secondary education both in boys and girls.
Enrolment drives may bring students to schools, but the state finds it difficult to retain them after their primary education.
HIGHÂ DROP OUT RATE
Over 30% of girl students drop out of schools by the time they get to grade 4 and the number rises to 57% in class 8, according to the report-Children in India 2019

A MALE’S EDUCATION IN INDIA IS MORE VALUED
It is often seen as unnecessary to financially support a girl’s education due to binding gender roles.

The Right to Education Act (RTE) was a step in the right direction, but more must be done to actively close the gender gap and retrain society to value girls’ education.
WHAT WE DO
ADDRESSING THEÂ ROOT CAUSES OF GENDER INEQUALITY IN EDUCATION IN INDIA
We combined the research and data such as randomized controlled trials from multiple studies with empirical evidence we got from in-deep interview with 6 Indian women's right organizations. And we found out that girls education dilemma are caused by:
Parents unrealistic expectation about education & biased expectation about girls
Elite Bias from teachers: unnecessarily pessimistic expectations
Short of qualified teachers
Early pregnancy & marriage
Low market demand for educated women & gender discrimination in workplace
Poor curriculum & pedagogy design
BRIDGING THE GAP INÂ PHILANTHROPY FOR GIRLS' EDUCATION
We analyzed 16 nonprofits and their programs as solutions to address those key points, or root causes in India. and we identified the gap that there is no enough actions to prevent parents' biased attitudes towards girls' education.
Combination of lack of information and incorrect expectations from parents to their daughters can trap the girls. To take one example, if the parents believe the returns to girls' education are lower than to boys, it is unlikely that they will want to make the effort to invest in girls' education. If this is the case, interventions which change information and beliefs can have powerful effects.
CRAFTINGÂ HIGH-QUALITY, LOW-COST AND REPLICABLE INTERVENTIONS TO ADDRESS THE GAP
We design a one month activities with different topics of each week.
The activities will contain:
movies
discussion
school visiting/teacher meeting
ambassador story
games
The topics will cover:
benefit to parents
benefit to girls
gender equality
higher education & career
